* I'm Aussie..... and live among the section of the community mentioned and would welcome (even beg!) for people with some Balls to migrate here and start instilling some decent values back into our community.

*I have lived in Singapore and a PAP type government would sure sort out some of the problems in Australia. [/b]

Are you sure? the tactic of sg gov may not be workable in Aust. Wake up~!

a couple of thoughts..

Pauline Hanson is the epitome of what's great about Australia: that somebody can get up and express their opinion, and it can be argued with, or in her case, voted upon. I don't agree with her opinions but appreciate that she can express them.

Yes, Koalaaa (whatever!) Australia has some serious problems, and it also has a lot going for it, but Singapore-style government is NOT the answer for Australia.

Chin Eng SG

You are quite right here. Neither is Aussie law applicable in Singapore.

tehvinci SG

Let me guess, you are 5 yrs old or something? Go take up history class and know more about Singapore before spouting crap about Singapore Goverment or LKY. I firmly believe what Singapore is now is because of this one man's vision... and that is LKY, every Singaporean should be thanksful to LKY.

Singapore did a right thing for not giving in to a big country like Aus, like what we did many years back of that micheal faye case, we did not give in to US.
That is why Singapore is still well-respected, a safe country and a decent place to do business in because of our tough law.

reyes SG

i strongly hope we can live harmony with the aussies and put aside this issue behind us. Aussies have to understand drug trafficking is death sentence whether the trafficker is singaporean or aussie.
if any singaporean commit a crime in aussie, we shall also be sentence according to your country criminal laws.
the death sentence is use as a deterent for drug traffickers . but once they are caught, have to face the consequences whether local or foreign.
i have deep respect to australia as a good country and i study there but i hope the aussies can also respect singapore legal justice system. He was given a fair trail and proven guilty which i believe the aussie has no dispute.

just dont do drug trafficking and nobody will be hang here.

vito_corleone SG

you forgot the hard work put in by other politicians like goh keng swee and toh chin chye, all who did a lot for the country and without whom lky could not have achieved the success he had today. and in case you were wondering, yes they have that in the history books also.

oxford mushroom SG

She is one reason why there are so many racists in Australia. Those who spew such filth should be locked up.

Cindyfeh SG

Another blinded soul...

Look at Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Luxembourg, etc.

They were also devastated by WWII and yet they are at same level, if not enjoying better GDP per capital than singapore now.

The fact is that world economy boomed after the war and certain people just ride on that growth. It is just like you buy a unit trust and when the unit trust turns in a return of 10% you thought its great. But its nothing compared to the STI which increased 15% the same period.

sbst275 SG

You believe this?

Each countries has its own problems

Chin Eng SG

Japan has one of the highest incidents of vice - look at the lucrative AV industry and the Yakuza controlled society.
Korea has one of the highest level of industrial strikes - unionists control the market.
Hong Kong has a market that is beginning to be destablised by the Chinese government.
Luxembourg --- well think of the druggies in Europe.

Are we better than them? In some ways yes, in others no.
SBST275 is correct. Every country has it's own problems (and successes).
There are always tradeoffs and sacrifices. Part of life, really.

Cindyfeh SG

Yes you are right.

And we have a great dynasty here.

sabaisabai SG

Thank goodness Australians are able to debate things without resorting to locking up people they disagree with.

LazerLordz SG

Well, that's one good thing. Laughing

Anyway, Chin Eng, care to back up your claim about Luxembourg and the drug scourge? Confused
